Hello,
as per my last communication, I made it aware that I was taking more aggressive security measures against port-scans. That being said, I have noted that these measures were, perhaps, too aggressive, and often had false-positive issues.
As such, port-scan blocking has since been removed.
Note that this has been replaced in favor of DDOS/DOS detection. Behaviors in leu of this will, still, get you banned, as per our terms-of-service.
Also, I've made some performance changes-- Ping, should, be far better now.
^^ Please note the portscan bans are automated. I don't do it myself.
Hello, hasphetica SMP!
I'm just updating you on some changes.
We just recently became accepted as an arch linux mirror (https://archlinux.org/mirrors/hasphetica.win/) and I'm quite proud. Alongside this comes another announcement
Seeing as our website and server are all public, we get lots of bot traffic. As such, I've taken a more aggressive approach to defending against bots. As such, all portscans will lead to your IP being banned for up to 24 hours. Be a dear and don't portscan the server. If you get banned unfairly or out of the blue, please reach out to me-- as the system is still in testing.
Hello, Hasphetica SMP members!
This announcement discusses when maintenance periods are scheduled, why they're scheduled, and how those times were scheduled.
2pm - 4pm on Thursdays of every week.
To regularly test backups, preform system updates, and general tidying up. Sometimes I may make improvements to the site.
I have absolutely nothing to do on Thursdays during this time. Alongside this, the folks on the arch mailing list (which is the distro I use for my systems) are the most active around this time.
I will try to keep status.hasphetica.win up during these periods, but I can make no promises; sorry!
